Our Leadership Training Program is designed to develop young mathematicians into confident leaders and mentors. Students learn advanced problem-solving techniques while developing teaching and communication skills that will serve them throughout their academic and professional careers.
The program is open to students who have demonstrated:
- Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Consistent participation in Math Circle activities
- Interest in mentoring and teaching others
- Commitment to personal growth and leadership development
Typically, students are in grades 7-12, though exceptional younger students may be considered.
Students in the Leadership Training Program will develop:
- Advanced mathematical problem-solving and critical thinking
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Mentoring and teaching techniques
- Leadership and team collaboration abilities
- Curriculum development and lesson planning
- Confidence in public speaking and group facilitation
The Leadership Training Program runs throughout the academic year, with sessions held weekly. Students typically participate for one full year, though many continue for multiple years to deepen their skills and take on more advanced leadership roles.
Students should expect to commit:
- 2-3 hours per week for training sessions
- 1-2 hours per week for preparation and practice
- Additional time for mentoring younger students (optional but encouraged)
To apply for the Leadership Training Program:

- Submit a brief essay about your interest in leadership and mathematics
- Provide a recommendation from a teacher or Math Circle instructor
- Participate in an interview with program coordinators
