Mathematical Scavenger Hunt Project - Internship Week #1

OMC interns representing local high schools and UCF tested out their Mathematical Scavenger Hunt project they worked on the entire week. They worked in a comfortable environment the whole week, thanks to the generosity of our location sponsors, Tim Tutoring and Test Prep. They worked as a group using design thinking and process as well as the Scrum project management method which relies on a self-organizing, cross-functional team. In this type of team everyone is needed to take a feature from idea to implementation. The scrum team is self-organizing in that there is no overall team leader who decides which person will do which task or how a problem will be solved. Those are issues that are decided by the team as a whole.

can you solve this problem?

This is an example of a problem from the scavenger hunt

OMC students showed great respect for each other, cooperated, collaborated and were able to produce the rough draft version which they tested at Maitland Public Library on the last day of the internship. They acted out the participant and volunteer parts because oddly no children were to be found at the particular time. Now they are looking forward to fine tune the scavenger hunt and bring it to elementary students in schools, after school programs and libraries. Bravo to our awesome student interns! We are so proud of the progress you have made this week!
