He has always loved math competitions. He participated in fourth and fifth grade in Math Olympiad (MOEMS) with honors. In middle school, he excelled in regional MathCounts competitions and on the American Math Competition (AMC 8). This year, Ramsey scored in the top 2.5% of the AMC 10, qualifying him for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). He has excelled in other math competitions as well, including MathCON and Math Kangaroo, ranking in the top 10 nationally for his grade level in both.

Ramsey finished AP AB & BC Calculus with AP exam scores of 5 for each and is currently dual enrolling in Analytical Geometry & Calculus 3 at the University of Florida while also taking AP Statistics. He is the president of his high school’s Mu Alpha Theta club and captain of their math team in which he prepares his members for the AMC 10 and 12, lessons inspired by the OMC AMC & AIME classes he’s attended. Out of school, he has completed 15 classes with Art of Problem Solving, including Calculus, Intermediate Number Theory, Intermediate Programming with Python, and Intermediate Counting & Probability. In the summer of 2021, Ramsey attended PROMYS (Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists), a six-week intensive summer math program on number theory held through Boston University.

Ramsey is one of OMC’s student volunteers responsible for starting and running the COVID-19 Response online programming. The team has been teaching free online Beast Academy and MOEMS classes for elementary students since March 2020. He is also working on the Math Grid Journal Project and creating original content that will be printed in our first edition.

Ramsey is also passionate about computer science. He is the treasurer of TCHS’s Programming Team and has completed both AP computer science courses. He has taken computer programing courses through UCF Junior Knights and is proficient in Python and Java. Ramsey has worked on computer science activities led by UCF graduates through OMC and will be working with other UCF CS students to develop and test an open-source app for Orlando Math Circle.

In addition, Ramsey loves being the co-captain of and the math expert on his high school’s Quiz Bowl team. As someone with multiple food allergies, he also serves as a member of the national Teen Advisory Group for FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), writing blog posts and performing general advocacy for them. He loves Marvel, Disney, and basketball (go Celtics) and is excited to share his passion for math.
